Description:
A "Fishbone" style pendant by American master sculptor, Harry Bertoia (1915-1978) The pendant with a clasp on the reverse for use as a brooch, is hand tooled, forged and riveted with four sterling ribs folded over a center rib. The large, impressive pendant dates from Bertoia's early Cranbrook period before he went to California in the mid 1940's. A certificate of authenticity dated February 21, 2013 from the Bertoia Foundation accompanies the piece. Unsigned. Provenance available upon purchase. Exhibition: "Bent, Cast & Forged: The Jewelry of Harry Bertoia", Cranbrook Museum of Art, March 14 - November 29, 2015. Also the Museum of Art & Design, New York City, May 3 - September 26, 2016.
